Terms of Service

The rules for using Video Subtitle Remover online tools and the Windows beta application.

Last updated: 2026-10-16

Accepting these terms

By using the Video Subtitle Remover website, its online removal tools, or the Windows beta application, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. These terms exist to keep the service usable, honest and available: they define what the tools do, what you may upload, what the free tier includes, and what happens when something breaks.

The service is provided by the operators of this website ("we", "us"). We may update these terms as the product evolves; the date at the top of this page identifies the current version, and material changes will be announced on this page before they take effect.

What the service does — and does not do

Video Subtitle Remover removes text that is visible inside video frames — burned-in subtitles, captions, titles and similar overlays — and strips embedded subtitle tracks where the container supports it. The tools preview every repair before export and preserve your original audio, duration and frame order.

Equally important is what the service does not do:

  • It does not remove moving objects, people or backgrounds. It is a text-overlay tool, not a general object eraser.
  • It does not bypass DRM, encryption or any technical protection measure. Protected files are refused, not processed.
  • It does not guarantee perfect reconstruction of pixels that were covered by text. Repair quality depends on the background behind the overlay; the preview exists so you can judge the result before downloading.
  • It does not generate, forge or alter provenance metadata, and it does not strip invisible watermarking intended for traceability.
  • It does not verify your rights to any file. That responsibility is yours and stays yours.

Your content and your responsibility

You may only upload or process videos that you own or are licensed to modify. This includes your own recordings, footage licensed to you under terms that permit editing, and public-domain material. It excludes — without limitation — pirated films, other people's uploads, broadcast recordings you have no rights to, and any content whose licensing forbids modification.

Removing a subtitle, caption or watermark does not transfer any copyright or other right in the underlying video. If you do not hold rights to the footage, a "clean" copy is still not yours to publish. You are solely responsible for the files you submit and for the use you make of the results, including compliance with the law of your jurisdiction.

We may refuse or delete any job without stating a reason where we believe the content or the usage violates these terms, for example obvious attempts to process protected or infringing material at scale.

The free tier and fair use

The online tools are free within published limits: clips up to 60 seconds, up to 720p resolution, files up to 100 MB, and a small daily quota per person. These limits are enforced server-side against the actual properties of your file, and they exist for one reason: GPU processing has real costs, and the free tier survives only if it is not abused.

Fair use means processing your own clips at human speed. It does not mean automated bulk submission, scripted access, shared accounts farms, reselling the service as your own, or attempts to bypass the quota or the bot check. We may throttle, queue or block usage that threatens the service's availability, and we will say so on the page rather than silently degrading your jobs.

Processing capacity is finite. At peak times free jobs queue, and the queue position is shown honestly. If the service is temporarily unavailable, the pages say so instead of accepting uploads that will never run.

The Windows beta application

The Windows application is offered free during its public beta. During the beta:

  • It is provided "as is", with the features described on its download page at the time of download.
  • Beta software can contain bugs and may behave unexpectedly on unusual hardware or files. Keep your own backups; the application never overwrites originals, and exports are written as separate files, but you remain responsible for your data.
  • The beta feature set is intended to remain free even if a paid tier with additional capabilities is introduced later. If that ever changes, existing beta users will keep what the download page promised at the time they downloaded.
  • The application runs locally and requires no account. Its license is personal and non-exclusive; you may not redistribute, rebrand or resell it, and you may not reverse-engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits.

Availability, changes and termination

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may add, change or remove features, adjust published limits (with the change stated on the relevant page before it applies to new jobs), or discontinue parts of the service. Because no payment and no account exist in the beta, "termination" is simple: you may stop using the service at any time, and we may block usage that violates these terms.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the tools will meet your requirements, that repairs will be flawless on your footage, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill arising from your use of the service. Where the law does not allow certain limitations, they apply to the widest extent permitted. Our total aggregate liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the twelve months before the claim — which, during the free beta, is zero by definition. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Third-party components

The service builds on open-source and licensed components, each used within the terms of its license. The applicable notices ship with the Windows application and are summarized on its download page. Nothing in these terms overrides the licenses of those components.

Governing terms

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, form the entire agreement between you and us regarding the service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in force. We may need to comply with laws that require different behavior in specific jurisdictions; where that happens, the stricter honest reading applies.

Contact

Questions about these terms can be raised through the contact channel announced on the site. Until a public support inbox is opened, repository and site issues reach us fastest.
